This condensed Privacy Policy applies to personal credit information collected by CIRA. This policy provides you with a summary of how CIRA handles personal credit information.
CIRA operates a credit information reporting agency. The agency holds credit information on individuals and commercial entities. Using that information, we provide credit reports on to our members and authorised members that use our services.
The Fair Reporting of Credit Regulations 2016 governs how we handle your personal credit information.
Collection of personal credit information
We only collect credit information for the purpose of operating our consumer credit information reporting business.
We collect credit information from our members who upload this information only after authorisation/consent from you.
We may collect your personal information from you when you make a request for your credit report, but you will still have to authorise/consent beforehand.
Use and disclosure of personal credit information
We will use your credit information for the purpose of carrying out our consumer credit reporting business and only what is permitted under the Fair Reporting of Credit Act 2016.
CIRA members will be able to use your credit information but will require your authorisation.
Retention of credit information
CIRA will keep credit information for no longer than required for our consumer credit reporting business, but for no longer than the specified retention periods required by law.
CIRA will stop reporting defaults, judgments and summary instalment orders after 5 years and a single bankruptcy 4 years after discharge.
Data Security
CIRA takes reasonable steps to protect the credit information its holds against loss, unauthorised access, use, modification or disclosure and any other misuse.
Your rights and choices
You are entitled to access your credit information held by CIRA. For information on how to do this please visit www.cira.com
If you think we hold incorrect credit information about you, you can make a request to correct it by contacting us.
If you think CIRA has breached the act, you should contact us and we will investigate your complaint in accordance with our complaints procedure.
If you are not satisfied with the outcome of your complaint you may complain to the regulator Reserve bank of Fiji (www.rbf.gov.fj).
